Natura Education offers an extensive variety of guided programs with work booklets and education material that include an environment-themed take home message for the students. This service includes an introduction into a specific topic relating to the natural environment and/ or personal development for students in years 8 to 12 (Qld) or 7 to 12 (NSW). All our programs have been developed to satisfy existing essential learnings (syllabus outcomes). After contacting Natura Education to develop a tailored program to suit your specific requirements, a teachers Handbook will be sent to you several weeks before the field visit, including an optional basic pre-field visit classroom activity and a list of standards to measure the performance of students (in the form of observation and assessment).
Typically, classes that have joined Natura Ecotours in the past have included Geography, Social Science, Tourism and Hospitality, Biology, Marine Biology, Chemistry and Indigenous Studies. Together we have explored topics such as aboriginal culture, forest ecology, earth sciences, animal biology and conservation.
Along with our work booklets, some important educational tools that Natura Ecotours utilises to explore these topics include activities such as:
Excursion durations can comprise of one half day, 1 full day or 2x half-day activities (over one or two days as requested by the teacher and class) in situ to a specific destination offered by Natura Education. The type of program can differ according to the theme or learning topic the teacher and class is interested in (e.g. marine ecosystems, mangroves, terrestrial systems etc.). Programs are run during school days at times that are convenient for the teacher and class.
